Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice took to social media to voice her disdain with Republican Presidential nominee, Donald Trump. Rice, a Republican who served under George W. Bush, said that Trump doesn’t have the “dignity” or “stature” to hold office.
“Enough! Donald Trump should not be President,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “He should withdraw. As a Republican, I hope to support someone who has the dignity and stature to run for the highest office in the greatest democracy on earth.”
Her post was written on Oct. 8, a day after a video from 2005 surfaced in which Trump and former Access Hollywood host Billy Bush engaged in a conversation regarding Trump’s attempt to sleep with a married woman and being able to get away with kissing and touching women inappropriately. Since the tape’s release, several Republicans have rescinded their support of Trump, including Rice, Sen. John McCain and Gov. George Pataki of New York.
During last night’s (Oct. 9) second Presidential debate, moderator Anderson Cooper attempted to get Trump to speak on the controversy. However, the question was deflected and excused as “locker room banter.”
“Certainly I’m not proud of it. But this is locker room talk.,” he said while trying to shift the answer into how to defeat ISIS. “I have great respect for women. Nobody has more respect for women than I do.”
