The Elioparanwo Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers has urged the State Government to complete the five-kilometre road project linking it with other parts of the state.
Mr Samuel Wahunoro, former Chairman, Elioparanwo Community Development Committee, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Wahunoro said that when completed, residents of the community, including civil servants working in Port Harcourt, would be spending less than 20 minutes to get to the state capital.
He said that it would also facilitate the evacuation of farm produce from the area.
“This will make the farmers to increase production. We expect government to complete the project this dry season,” he said.
Wahunoro said that the people were impressed with the extent of work done so far on the road.
“In the past, it used to be a nightmare for us to travel out when it rained.
“We thank the state government for the work done so far on the road.
“The drainage work on both sides has saved residents from flooding,” he said. (NAN)
