The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has called on President Goodluck Jonathan and all in whose powers lie the implementation of the recommendations of the committees of the just concluded National Conference to act accordingly without further delay.
The church is insisting that since the Confab had tidied up its assignment with a number of recommendations, the only justification to their good job and the huge sums of naira invested in the exercise is the full implementation of the recommendations so that it does not go the way of previous ones that never saw the light of the day.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Egbu, the Rt Rev. Geoffrey Eyinnaya Okorafor, gave the charge in his address at the first session of the 7th Synod the diocese, which had the theme: ‘Lot’s Wife and the Pillar of Salt’ held at the Zion Anglican Church, Okpala, in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State.
With the 2015 elections quite imminent, the prelate advised Nigerian to ignore those unpatriotically fanning the embers of disunity and disintegration of the country, reminding politicians and other stakeholders that the nation stands taller than anybody, ethnic group or organisation.
“Let every Nigerian help Nigeria to survive; election should not be seen as a do or die affair. Let the spirit of sportsmanship be our watch words”.
