ven Roma’s repeated denials of Radja Nainggolan leaving and given Radja Nainggolan’s repeated denials of Radja Nainggolan leaving, it would appear that Chelsea have possibly taken the hint and have moved on. At least that’s Gianluca Di Marzio’s latest update in this saga claims.
…the Blues have now finally moved on from Radja Nainggolan. Now, the new option for the midfield could be Axel Witsel…

I’m not sure if we can really call Witsel a “new option” as Chelsea have been linked with the former Benfica standout repeatedly over the last few summers, but he’s apparently back in the reckoning once again. It probably helps that he now only has one year left on his contract at Zenit St. Petersburg and has recently revealed that he wants to “level up” his career by moving to either Italy or England.
“I want a new experience and I don’t know if it will be in the Premier League or in Serie A.”
“I’m fascinated by Italian football and at the age of 27, it would be the right move for me to make. Milan did try to sign me before, it’s true, but it was a long time ago now. Now I’ve only got the European Championship on my mind, though.”

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Witsel’s price has also fallen from last summer’s €35m to just around €20m, which is about half the price Roma were supposedly looking for in Nainggolan. That’s a deal and a steal and the list of potential contenders for his signature is accordingly long: Roma, Milan, Juve, Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester United, to name a few.
