Chelsea are readying a club-record transfer offer for Inter Milan superstar Mauro Icardi, according to reports.
The-24-year striker, widely regarded as one of Serie A’s finest talents, has had a barnstorming start to the 2017/18 campaign, scoring 15 goals in his opening 14 appearances for Inter.
Icardi has been linked with Arsenal in recent seasons but it’s understood the Gunners’ bitter London rivals, Chelsea, are eyeing a swoop for the forward.
The Sun claim the Blues are keen on launching a £100million bid for the Argentina international to form an incredible strike partnership with Alvaro Morata.
However, Inter boss Luciano Spalletti is confident Icardi will commit his long-term future to the Italian giants.
Asked about the transfer rumours, Spalletti responded: ‘Who does not want Icardi? I love him at Inter and when I talk to him I can sense that the city, his team-mates, the club, the fans are all things to which he is strongly attached.
‘I am convinced he can stay at Inter forever. [Title chances?] For now there is not [a gap] anymore, but we have to carry on what we have done.
‘Every match, we have to start from scratch and put our quality on the field. We must play without respite – that is our motto.’
