Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic was seen in Milan accompanied by his agent this weekend, sparking rumors of an exit from Stamford Bridge.
Matic was one of the best players in the Premier League two seasons ago as Chelsea won the league title, but regressed mightily last season as the club floundered in the middle of the table. With new managerAntonio Conte on board, Matic has improved from last season, starting all seven matches and picking up three assists, but with the presence of N’Golo Kante, Matic no longer has the holding midfield position all to his own.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio posted the photograph of Matic in a Milan clothing shop alongside his Italian agent Giuseppe Riso, reigniting rumors of a possible move. Matic was heavily linked to Juventus over the summer as a possible replacement for Paul Pogba, who left Turin for Manchester United in a monstrous deal.
Matic was unavailable for selection for the Serbian national team in their World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Moldova this weekend due to a red card suspension stemming from a late sending-off against Portgual nearly a year ago in a Euro 2016 qualification match.
Obviously, this could be nothing, especially considering his agent is based in Milan and Matic had the weekend off, but it’s always understandable when a player is seen in locations that don’t seem to make logical sense. Guess away!
