The news this morning out of France is that Chelsea and Leicester City have agreed a transfer fee for N’Golo Kante. The €35m translates to just under £30m at current exchange rates, which would fit with previous reports claiming that the two clubs were negotiating a fee somewhere between the minimum buyout (£20m) and the money on offer from China (£35m).
It should be noted that Le Parisien were one of the first, if not the first source to report that Kante preferred the Chelsea option over all others, so they’re either running a really long diversion for Kante to eventually stay at Leicester City on a very big new contract (as also rumored just yesterday by the Telegraph), or there’s something really happening here.
If the fee has been agreed, the next step is to sort out the personal terms.
