Transfer season is fast approaching, and the Brazilian media are reporting on Friday that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Atletico PR for midfielder Nathan Allan de Souza. Nathan is a 5’10” attacking midfielder who plays a similar style to that of Oscar, and is also comfortable playing on either wing.
De Souza was a bit of an unknown before an amazing display at the U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, where he was named to the tournament’s best XI. He showed a keen eye for a through ball at the tournament, was very quick with his decision making, and was excellent with the ball at his feet.
Since that time, Nathan has made his senior debut for Atletico PR, but has also found himself in the middle of an ugly contract dispute. It appears that Chelsea took advantage, and made an offer for the player that satisfied the Brazilian club, and will allow the player the move he desires. If the report is accurate, it would be logical to assume that Nathan will spend next season away on loan, as there’s little to no chance that the player qualifies for an English work permit at present.
