The Chief Executive Officer of Ifesinachi Transport Company, Primce Emeka Mama, has picked All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket for the House of Representatives in Igbo Eze North/ Udenu Federal Consituency.
Mama posters depicting him as APGA candidate has flooded the community, in some places sitting side-by-side with his old posters and billboards announcing his earlier run for the ticket under the PDP umbrella.
Mama settled for APGA ticket after he had lost the ticket under th People’s Democratic Party to Dennis Nnamdi Agbo, who emerged the holder of the ticket on a consensus basis after all candidates contesting for the post were subjected to a shadow voting in which each of them voted for his or her preferred candidate other than him or herself.
It was based on this process that Mr Dennis Agbo picked the PDP ticket for the constituency.
According to informed sources in the local government area, Agbo is not quite popular among the people and might find it very difficult to emerge victorious against any formidable opponent.
Although APGA is not quite popular in the area, Prince Mama, the scion of the popular James Mama, who founded the transport company shortly after the war in 1970, has all it takes to make formidable foray in the constituency, Because of the name-recognition factor, courtesy of his father.
Analysts believe tha the prince, whose father was the traditional ruler of largest autonomous community in the state, stands a good chance of upstaging the politically dour Agbo, who only prospect is riding on the back of the PDP which enjoys overwhelming support and popularity in the constituency.
“Dennis Agbo is really not a good mixer. He lacks the panache of a political master actor. I think he may stumble if faced with a tough challenger,”
They believe that a great work from Prince Mama, plus the great legacy of his father, whose business gave him huge influence in the area, the Prince could make it to the Abuja legislative hour.
“Emeka should know that APGA is not one of the most popular parties in this Area. He needs to reach out to the people with his message. Fortunately, his fathers name is still an asset to him. Besides, the prince is financially wellhealed to prosecute a winning campaign,” a young an who did not want his name in print said.
in addition, Emeka is very popular in the area, especially among the youths where he is said to have very strong relationship base.
The scion of the Ifesinachi dynasty will also be squaring up with the All Progressives Congress (APC) will be squaring up with APC candidate for the ticket, Mr Bath Ugwuoke.
