Last week, the video of actress and comedienne, Etinosa Idemudia smoking on her Instagram live video and using the Holy Bible as an ashtray went viral. Etinosa is known for being controversial; she is always in the news for doing weird and pulling awkward stunts. Many people feel she does these things to get attention on the internet. However, her recent act has made a lot of people question if she is mentally stable. Using the Holy Bible which symbolizes the whole Christian religion is the height.
However, I reached out to the Special Assistant to the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) president on media, Pastor Bayo Oladeji. When asked about the association’s reaction to the video, he emphasized that Christians don’t fight for God.
He said,
“Christians don’t fight for God, even if she insulted the Bible, God will know how to deal with her. That is why a lot of people are taking it for granted and abuse it. The most insulted book in the world is the Bible. It remains potent and infallible; the author of the Bible is the Holy Spirit. He will know how to handle her. We can’t ask the police to arrest her or take her to court. We can’t ask anybody to stone her; we don’t do that in Christianity. We pray for her change; if she doesn’t change, we hand her over to God.”
Etinosa further questioned a verse in the bible, Proverbs 22:6. According to her, she said that verse of the Bible is incorrect and a scam. She also added that she is currently at a point in her life where she is confused and still trying to balance what she was told while she was a child and what she is experiencing presently.
She wrote, “I am at a point in my life where I am really conflicted. Trying to balance what I was told while growing up to what I am seeing in reality now that I am grown. Things are not adding up. I truly need my mummy right now. I need prayers.”
This statement she made really made people worried about her mental state, her fans and followers expressed their worries for her after this incident. Even if someone wants to clout or trend, using religion to trend, is outright insensitive.
