Cameroon Army has taken the battle to the Boko Haram insurgents that have sought to make the country, which is next door to Nigeria, their escape refuge.
The country’s army killed more than 40 suspected militants of the Nigeria-based Boko Haram in a series of confrontations at the weekend, according to the Cameroonian Communication Minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary.
One Cameroonian soldier was killed in the clashes, the minister said Sunday night, Xinhua reported.
According to him, the militants attacked several places in the region bordering Nigeria.
The militants attacked Achigachia Sunday morning forcing the Cameroonian army to retreat but the army later seized control of the location after the Air Force entered into action.
The militants suffered heavy losses in Chogori where 34 of them were killed, the minister said.
