Mamman Daura, a nephew of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been flown abroad for an urgent medical treatment, SaharaReporters is reporting.
According to the online news platform, t Daura was flown to the United Kingdom.
Daura is one of the closest confidants of President Buhari and is widely believed to be a key factor in the presidency.
“Daura, 79, was said to have been flown in a private jet to the UK on Wednesday after exhibiting respiratory difficulties with symptoms similar to coronavirus since last Friday,” the report read.
The further reports, “the former journalist, who is an integral member of the ‘Cabal’, a group of influential individuals around President Buhari, who help him make key decisions, is said to have had a history of renal crisis and had regularly visited the West for medical attention.
“Recall that earlier this month, Daura came under widespread criticisms after he said that zoning of the Presidency in Nigeria should be jettisoned for competence.”
Nigeria is yet to lift ban on international flights, and officials of the federal government only announced the plan for Nigerians to resume international flights from August 29.
