The Inspector-General of Police, Alhaji Suleiman Abba, said on Wednesday that the Borno State Government had donated 40 vehicles to the police.
Abba said this while addressing officers and men of the Borno State Police Command during an official visit to Maiduguri.
He said the donation was part of the ongoing Police Reform Programme of the Federal Government to transform the Police Force for better performance.
“I wish to announce that the Borno State Government has donated 40 vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force.
“By the donation, the Borno State Government has keyed into the Federal Government’s police reform programme aimed at transforming the police for better performance,’’ Abba said.
He added that all states of the federation were expected to allocate one per cent of their earnings annually toward the programme.
The IG said part of the money would be channeled into improving on accommodation and equipment for the force.
He urged other state governments to emulate the Borno State’s gesture by making provisions for the funds.
Abba said his visit to the state was to identify with the officers and men of the command over their efforts in fighting the Boko Haram insurgency.
