Blac Chyna has been blasted by fans for fronting a brand new skin lightening cream in Nigeria.
The reality star, who changed her name from Angela White, invited her 14.8 million Instagram followers to join her at the official launch of her first face cream on Sunday in Lagos.
Chyna has teamed up with brand Whitenicious to launch her product, which retails for $250 (£195) and comes in a “handcrafted jar with real Swarovski crystals”.
The post angered fans who accused her of exploiting Nigeria’s colorism problem.
One wrote: “Blac Chyna is going to Lagos, Nigeria to promote a bleaching cream and I am honestly disgusted.”
Another said: “Blac Chyna partnering up with Africa’s bleaching king and queen to create a new face bleaching cream is beyond problematic. It’s really rubbing me the wrong way, ain’t no way in hell she would do that in LA. Exploiting Nigeria’s colourism problem is disgusting.”
According to TMZ, Chyna has been “using Whitenicious dark spot corrector for a few years to deal with her hyperpigmentation”.
Sources also say that she felt this “was a good deal for her as a lot of women of colour suffer skin issues”.
Chyna rose to fame as a model and starred on Keeping Up with the Kardashians after dating Rob. They share two-year-old daughter Dream together. She also has son King Cairo with Kylie Jenner’s ex Tyga.
