12 political on Thursday endorsed Seriake Dickson as their sole candidate for the forth coming governorship election in Balyelsa State.
This is coming under the aegis of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), which shut the gate against other governorship aspirants with his adoption as their candidate for the December 5 governorship election.
In thesame vein, delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) have elected Dickson as the party’s candidate, with 447 votes at a primary election supervised by governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and which was attended by former President, Goodluck Jonathan.
Leaders of the parties namely, ADC, KOWA, PPA, AA, AP, UPN, APA, HDP, YDP, Independent Democrat, ACPN and NNPP, said they shut out the other aspirants on their platforms and adopted the PDP candidate, governor Dickson, because of his performance and the assurance that the state was in safe hands.
The chairmen of the political parties led by the CNPP chairman, Luky Akpeli and the treasurer of IPAC and state chairman of NNNPP, Inko Namatebe, said they adopted Dickson because of his sterling leadership qualities.
Namatebe while extolling the governor stated that he had performed well in his first tenure, adding that it was only necessary that he should be allowed to continue in office for another term.
“One of the things that governor Dickson has delivered on, is security. He has put in place a framework for data gathering in an organised and empirical manner in crime,” he said.
Responding, Dickson announced his deputy, Rear Admiral John Jonah, as his running mate for the December 5 election and commended members of the PDP for displaying maturity, unlike the APC, which according to him, could not conduct its primary election and turned the state into a battleground.
He warned members of the APC not to unleash violence on innocent Bayelsans, declaring that his administration would not abdicate its responsibility to protect lives and property in the state.
