Rivers State PDP Governorship Aspirant, Barrister Nyesom Wike has declared that he would wipe away the tears of Rivers people regarding the failures of the outgoing administration in the state.
Speaking at Ikwerre Local Government Area on Saturday during his meet the PDP delegates tour of the area, Barrister Wike said he would put an end to the numerous excuses being adduced by the outgoing administration in the state.
Ikwerre LGA is home to the outgoing governor, considered to have failed Rivers people through non performance.
He said: “Only failures give excuses for non performance. After several years of failure to use huge resources that accrued to the state, the outgoing governor is churning our reasons why he has failed.
“I will wipe away the tears of Rivers people and enthrone mass development in every local government of the state. I make this solemn pledge because I know our people have suffered”.
The governorship aspirant urged the delegates to vote him during the governorship primary and watch him defeat the opposition party.
He said that his support base covers the 23 local government areas with prominent Ijaw, Ogoni and other ethnic nationalities personalities on the New Rivers Vision team.
“Today, we have a Rivers State united in the objective of enthroning development, respect for Constituted authority, brotherly love and respect for elders and traditional rulers. That is why the Minister of Sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo, Senator George Sekibo and Chief Ferdinand Anabrabra”.
Chairman, PDP Ikwerre LGA, Barrister Sunny Wondikom said that the people of the area have resolved to support Wike because the other aspirants are only present on the pages of newspapers, hence the lack the structure to win the general election.
Former Vice Chancellor of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Prof. Simeon Achenewu said that Wike has delivered the Rivers people from political oppression, pointing out that the indigenes of Ikwerre LGA are the greatest beneficiaries.
Ikwerre LGA Women leader, Chief (Mrs) Eunice Igwe assured Barrister Wike that the women of the area were solidly behind his aspiration.
A frontline Nigerian Diplomat, Ambassador Ernest Nwosu noted that Rivers State is in dire need of revival and only Nyesom Wike has the capacity to right the wrongs perpetrated by the outgoing administration.
The PDP governorship aspirant was accompanied to Ikwerre LGA by the Minister of Sports, Dr Danagogo, Senator George Sekibo, serving PDP members of the House of Representatives, Federal Commissioners, former legislators, ex-council chairmen, women and youth leaders.
