Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship aspirant, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that he will continue to collaborate with the ordinary Rivers people to realize his governorship ambition.
He spoke in Gokana in Rivers State on Monday when he met with delegates and people of the area as part of his sensitization tour for the PDP governorship primary coming up on November 29.
He said that grassroots politics is not played on television, newspaper, social media, but in due interaction with the people.
“We are interacting with the people to seek the support of the people. We are doing what happened in Ekiti. While they are busy in Abuja running around, we are here mobilizing for the PDP victory.
“Those planted by the APC as governorship aspirants are in Abuja speaking on newspapers, television. And online, but we are here in the communities and villages mobilizing people for President Jonathan and the PDP’.
Barrister Wike noted that he will not take the support of the ordinary Rivers people for granted, pointing out that this is not the era of zoning as PDP needs to reclaim Government House, Port Harcourt.
He assured Gokhana people that he would embark on massive infrastructural development, empowerment of the people and building development networks across the state.
Responding, Ogoni leader, Mr Kenneth Kobani assured the Barrister Wike of the support of Gokhana people in the governorship primary.
Also speaking, Mr Fred Kpakol, Gokana PDP chieftain stated that the large turnout of Ogoni people for the tour proved their support for Barrister Wike.
