Pedro has reportedly told his family he is ‘leaving for England’ sparking claims that his £22million switch to Man United is drawing closer.
The 28-year-old Spain forward is Louis van Gaal’s number one target to replace Angel Di Maria, who is set to seal his move to Paris Saint-Germain this weekend for a fee of around £46million.
Pedro has a £22million buy-out clause in his Barcelona contract and it has been widely reported that he could move to Old Trafford this summer, while Nicolas Gaitan is another player targeted by Van Gaal.
Pedro has found game time under Luis Enrique hard to come by and is behind Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar in the Nou Camp pecking order. And, having turned 28 last week, the player is keen to have regular first-team football.
And reports in Spain say that the speedy winger has already informed his family that he’s set to move to the Premier League this summer.
“The other day the mother of Pedro told us that he is leaving for England,” said Jamie Lorenzo, president of Spanish side Raqui San Isidro.
“I think it would be a good challenge for him and he would have more minutes.”
Barcelona president Jose Maria Bartomeu claimed on Friday that United had yet to approach them for Pedro, but it is thought a deal could be finalized quickly once Di Maria’s sale to PSG finally goes through.
