Customers of banks who have reasons to make transaction on Wednesday (today) may have to make hay when the sun is shining. Most banks have indicated that they would be closing between 12 noon and 2pm, which may take many Nigerians who are used to last moment rush by surprise.
Last year, many bank customers were bemoaning that they could celebrate the New Year because they were unable to access their money because banks had closed by the time they got to their branches.
Besides, ATM cards were not of much help either as most of the machines malfunctioned and frustrated those who banked of drawing money from ATMs for New Year festivity.
On 24 December, many ATM card holders could not draw money from available machines as there was an almost system wide glitches.
Diamond Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, and others have officially informed its customers that their branches nationwide would close by 2pm today.
GTB had made similar notice to their customers before Christmas in which they announced their closure schedule for the two festive periods.
