Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was spotted in a Ferrari 488 on his way to the Barcelona training ground in early February, but it’s not the only supercar he owns.
In addition to the Ferrari 488 GTB, Aubameyang has at least one other Ferrari, the LaFerrari, four Lamborghinis (two Aventador and two Urus), a Bentley Bentayga, a Porsche Panamera, an Aston Martin DB9 and a Range Rover Sport.
Audi, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche
In a video posted on his Instagram account in November 2019, Aubameyang recounted that he started his collection in 2010, when he was playing for French side Lille.
His first car was an Audi TT that he sold several years later, but he admits he should have kept it.
“It was my favourite car and it was the first one I owned,” said Aubameyang. “I kept it for a long time, I regret selling it. I had also customised it by adding an R8 kit and butterfly wing doors.”
Aubameyang’s favourite car
After the Audi TT, Aubameyang’s next dream was to own a Lamborghini, and it didn’t take long for it to come true.
First, he bought a Lamborghini Gallardo (the predecessor of the Huracan), then an Aventador LP 700-4, as well as an Aventador S Roadster, which is now his favourite sports car.
Personalisation: A way to stand out
Aubameyang inherited a passion for expensive cars from his father, a former Gabonese footballer who retired in 2002.
“When I was a kid, if I didn’t play football I played with cars, that’s all,” said Aubameyang. “I inherited the passion of my father, who at that time had a red and very beautiful Audi Quattro.
“Customisation represents much more than 50 percent [of the car]. It’s very important because that’s what makes your personality stand out.
“Personally, I like brilliant things. I have cars in really different colours that are very bright.”
Creative on and off the pitch
The Gabonese international likes to attract attention on and off the field, which is why he customises his cars with bold colours.
“I’m a creator on the field, but sometimes you also need to be a creator outside,” added Aubameyang.
“I use the gold colours because I like to stand out, it’s part of the customisation.”
The missing cars
The former Arsenal captain plans to continue expanding his collection of cars and there are two machines he has already has his eyes on.
“I don’t think my collection is complete,” continued Aubameyang. “There are two cars I really love: the Pagani Zonda and the Koenigsegg. My goal is to have them in my collection.”
