Nigeria’s national team, as he would love to commit his international future to England.
Back in December, the Nigeria Football Federation had claimed that the Anglo – Nigerian had expressed interest to feature for the Super Eagles, and was set to debut against Ivory Coast, which did not happen.
Amaju Pinnick recently met with the parents of Chuba Akpom towards persuading him to wear the Nigeria jersey, but it appears the NFF supremo’s trip to England was a wild goose chase.
When asked where he sees himself in the next five years, Chuba Akpom told Arsenal’s official Twitter account, ” Hopefully still playing for Arsenal and the England senior team too. I want to emulate the Arsenal legends.”
On the other hand, teammate Alex Iwobi has decided not to follow the same path as his childhood friend, with the 18 year old in contention to make his debut for the Nigeria Under 23s this weekend, subject to Fifa’s approval.
”Alex is a very good player, I grew up with him, we went to the same nursery school and played for the same team from 5!”
Chuba Akpom, who grew up in Canning Town, East London, has 34 caps for the youth teams of England.
