Former governor Otunba Alao Akala may be heading out of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in protest over perceived injustice meted to him in the party, a prominent supporter of the former governor has said.
The supporter, who wants to remain anonymous, told newsmen on Thursday in Ogbomoso that Alao-Akala may defect from the party any moment from now.
According to him, Alao-Akala is deeply aggrieved by the manifest injustice handed down to him during the two ward congresses held in the state.
He said that as a result of the unfairness of the party in the conduct of the ward congresses, an unpopular candidate was been lorded over him and other aspirants.
” Alao-Akala has now become a beautiful bride that all Political parties, including the state ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC) want in their fold.”
Alao-Akala, a political gladiator in the state hails from the ancient Ogbomoso town of Oyo State, was the former governor in the state from 2007 to 2011 on the platform of PDP.
The supporter further alleged that some members of the party at the National Secretariat, including Mr Uche Secondus, the party’s National Deputy Chairman were bent on imposing an unpopular candidate through the back door.
The two ward congresses held in the state, just as it were in several other states like Enugu, Abia, Cross River, had been replete with several issues ranging from violence and appearance of fake lists in Abuja.
