Ahead Super Eagles trip to Pointe Noire for the make or mar Africa Cup of Nations Qualifying match against the Congo’s Red Devils, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye has expressed confidence in the abilities of the Coach Stephen Keshi-led squad to outrun their host and book a qualification ticket to the 2015 AFCON.
Elegbeleye disclosed that he has the conviction and confidence that the Eagles would book the 2015 AFCON. “Yes, if you look at Super Eagles position in the group standings, you will be right to say that it will be very difficult for Nigeria to qualify. But this is Nigeria and the can-do-it spirit will empower the Nigerian footballers and athletes in the true spirit of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s transformation agenda. I am confident of the Eagles’ victory in Pointe Noire.
“The Eagles have quality and talented players that can deliver good results s in Congo. I have the confidence in the team and with the full backings of the National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Football Federation, I am confident that the they will beat the Congolese on Saturday and put smiles on the faces of Nigerian soccer fans.
“The DG of the NSC is also confident of Nigeria’s representatives in the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships 2014 slated for Saturday and Sunday this week.
“We are praying for good results in both the AFCON 2015 qualifying match and the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championships that is taking place in Glasgow this weekend and I am sure we will get it with God on our side,” he concluded.
