Man Gets Life In Jail For Defiling Step-Daughter For 4 Years

A man who defiled his 16-year-old step-daughter for four years was sentenced to life imprisonment on Tuesday. The girl told the court that the incidents took place from 2010 to 2013 at Soweto village in Kasarani division, Nairobi county. She said her step-father defiled her while her mother was away and threatened to kill her with a knife if she reported the incidents. Her mother told the court that the accused did not put a stop to the defilement despite a warning from her at a meeting attended by her sister and a village headman. Four other witnesses testified in the case.
The accused had earlier denied the charges and had remained in custody for failing to raise a Sh300,000 bond on which he had been released. Kiambu resident magistrate Monica Kivuti said in her ruling that no other sentence befit the crime. The man was given 14 days to appeal. –
