Politics in Ondo State is picking a fire tempo with the Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy Agboola Ajayi at the centre of it all.
Barely 24 hours after the defection of the Ondo state deputy governor Hon Agboola Ajayi to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, the state government has sacked all his aides.
It has to do with the governorship election coming up later in the year.
Less than 24 hours after Ajayi switched to the Peoples Democratic Party where he hopes to fly the party’s ticket in a election where his principal Akeredolu is seeking reelection, the governor has sacked Al his political aides.
The Rainbow learnt that the governor has been piling preasure on him to force his resignation as the deputy governor.
Ajayi was received by the national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, and other party chieftains on Monday.
Ajayi it was further learnt is insisting that he will not bulk under the governor’s intimidation.
APC leadership in the state led by Ade Adetimehin has also advised Ajayi to resign his since he has resigned from the ruling party.
Ajayi has alleged that the governor bribed state lawmakers with N10 million each to impeach.
There were reports of heavy police presence at the House of Assembly on Tuesday.
Our correspondent learnt that the police presence was meant to provide security while the House commenced impeachment process.
At the weekend, the police in operation led by the state commissioner of the police barred the deputy governor from leaving the Government House with his official vehicle on alleged order of the governor.
The Governor later denied giving such a directive.
