The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will deploy card readers in the 2015 elections to achieve a credible process.
Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Bayelsa State, Edwin Nwatarali, disclosed this on Wednesday during a public lecture organised in Yenagoa by the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to celebrate its 2014 Press Week.
Nwatarali, who was a guest speaker at the event themed, “Towards a Credible 2015 General Elections”, said the card readers would be used in the process of accreditation of voters before they vote at the elections.
“This is to be possible because of the type of voter register that we now have. Multiple registration and multiple voting are to be things of the past”, assured Nwatarali, who was represented by Victor Agbonwanaten, the deputy director of Voter Education, Publicity, Civil Society Organisations and Gender Department.
