The National Assembly on Wednesday finally transmitted the details of the 2016 budget to President Muhammadu Buhari.
The delay in the endorsement of the budget has help in no small way to put the economy in a stress with reverbrating effects on the populace.
The details of the budget were submitted to the Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mr. Salisu Maikasuwa, around 5.07pm by the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin.
Following the procedure, Maikashuwa will transmit the 1,800-page document to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Jibrin, after the ceremony, told journalists that the committee worked for days to clean up the budget and break down the details.
Jibrin stated that having completed its assignment, the National Assembly expected Buhari to play his own part by signing the budget, which was passed on March 23.
The President had refused to sign the budget sent to him earlier with an excuse that the details were kept away from him.
Some legislators had also alleged that they had not seen the details of the budget giving the inclination that only a few in the National Assembly had the details.
A joint statement by the chairmen of the Appropriation Committees of the Senate and House of Representatives, Danjuma Goje and Abdulmumin Jibrin respectively, confirmed that the details have been transmitted to Buhari, adding that the committees spent extra time and energy lasting weeks to produce the details.
