Former Secretary to Government of the Federation and Afenifere chieftain, Chief Olu Falae, has regained his freedom from the hands of kidnappers.
Although there is no confirmed reports yet, The Rainbow learnt that the former presidential candidate was released this afternoon. There were reports Wednesday citing African Independent Television that claimed that the elder statesman had been released. It is not clear whether there is any link between the two reports. But a source said that the process of his release begun on Wednesday.
Details of the release are still sketchy with no information as to whether the family paid any ransom.
The Guardian had reported that when its correspondent visited the country home of former SGF on Wednesday, his family was making arrangments to pay ransom for their father. The captors had earlier demanded N100 million but later reduced it to N90 million.
Chief Olu Falae was Monday kidnapped on his farm at Ilado Village in Akure North Local Government area of Ondo State.
Coincidentally, the incident took place on his birthday.
