Nigeria’s Under-23 coach, Samson Siasia, on Tuesday released a list of 21 players for the All Africa Games football event qualifier against Gabon .
The team, made up 16 home based and five foreign based is expected to depart the Murtala Mohammed International Airport , Lagos on Wednesday evening for Gabon aboard an Ethiopia Airline flight.
The selected players are goalkeepers, Daniel Emmanuel and Akande Abiodun.
Selected defenders are Obanor Erhun, Okorom Stanley, Oduduwa Segun, Sani Faisal, Sincere Seth and Atanda Sodiq.
Midfielders named by Siasia are Azubuike Okechukwu, Godwin Savior, Tiongoli Tonbara, Saliu Popoola, Oshobe Oladele, Mohammed Usman and Kingsley Sokari, with Etebo Oghenekaro, Ajayi Junior, Peter Onyekachi, Iwobi Alex, Paul Onwachu being the strikers.
Surprisingly, former Flying Eagles star, Gero Abdullahi was excluded from the list, with the duo of Aminu Umar and Warri Wolves’ forward Freedom Omofonma failing to make the list for coming late to camp.
However, Member of the NFF Executive Committee, Chris Green, will lead the delegation to Gabon .
A 35-man delegation, including 19 players, will fly out from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Wednesday aboard an Ethiopian Airline flight, to arrive in Libreville by noon on Thursday.
The match will be plothe embark, 19 others for Gabon Under 23ayed on the natural turf of Stade Augustin Monedan a Sibang in Libreville , starting from 3.30pm Gabon time (2.30pm Nigeria time) on Saturday, 21st February.
The second leg will take place in Nigeria on 7th March, with the winner to take on the winner of the Zambia/Madagascar fixture for a place at the Men’s Football Tournament of the 11th All-Africa Games, scheduled for Brazzaville , Congo , 11th – 21st July, 2015.
