Total infections to 25, 694, deaths 590, new cases 561, treated and discharge – this is the stark picture of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria as at Tuesday.
Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported Tuesday night in a tweet via its official handle that the 561 new cases were recorded across 18 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In its breakdown of the figure, the NCDC said that five states– Lagos 200, Edo 119, Kaduna 52, Niger 32 and Ogun 19, logged in the highest numbers. .
Others included Ondo – 16, Imo – 14, Plateau – 11, Abia and Oyo states each having 8 cases, Bayelsa – 7 and Katsina – 6.
Meanwhile, states with fewer cases include Kano – 5, Bauchi, Osun and Kebbi each having 3 cases, Borno – 2 and Jigawa – 1.
According to the health agency, 344 more patients have been successfully treated and discharged from the isolation centres in various parts of the country.
This brings to 9,746 the number of people who have been discharged so far, although 17 more patients lost the battle to COVID-19.
The NCDC has put the country’s death toll from the disease at 590.
