Governor Godwin Obaseki has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s primary held in Beni City, Edo State on Thursday.
This means that he will be the PDP flag bearer for the Edo State governorship election taking place on September 19th, 2020.
He will ironically be facing off with Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who was the PDP flagbearer four years ago but has now pitched his tent with the All Progressives Congress, where he has already won the governorship ticket.
Obaseki emerged as winner after the delegates cast their votes at the party’s primary, which was televised in both Channels Television and AIT.
Obaseki’s emergence was helped by the agreement struck the three other aspirants who had reacted angrily to the governor’s late entry into the race, leading to court actions.
But the PDP was ablr to manage the crisis and get the aspirants to step down for Obaseki.
