Mourners at the funeral of a Roman Catholic Priest by name Oti Boateng in the Ashanti Region of Ghana were bewildered when a woman showed up during the ceremony with nine children which she claimed belonged to the late clergy.
According to Atinkanews.com, Father Oti Boateng was the Roman Father at Jamasi-Yonso.
The news platform reports that at the funeral of the late priest, “a woman appeared at the funeral grounds saying she is the wife of Father Oti Boateng.”
The report added that to the shock of mourners and the family of the demised, “the mysterious wife of Father Oti came to the funeral grounds with nine solid children claiming they are the biological children of Reverend Father Oti Boateng.”
Catholic priests swear to oath of celibacy, which debar them from any form of sexual relationship.
Many of the church’s clergy have however been struggling with keeping with the oath, which has led to growing calls for the chuurch to abandon that practice which have been a difficult yolk to bear especially by modern priests.
According to the news online, the woman came with different photographs of herself and Father Oti Boateng together with their children having fun to backup her claims.
“She knew people will definitely doubt her so she was smart enough to come to the funeral ground with concrete evidence,” it wrote.
Atinkanews further reported that the Catholic leaders from the Late priest’s diocese who were at the funeral grounds were taken aback by the development but but maintained bold faces as they insisted they had no knowledge of what the woman was claiming.
They however promised to meet with the late priest’s family to investigate the claims and make sure the right thing was done for the woman and her children if the claims were found to be true.
