Nigeria recorded 553 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday, why is the highest number recorded in a day in the country.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported that newly confirmed cases came from 14 states and FCT, with Lagos state logging in the highest new cases with a total of 378. Lagos does close to a thousand testing in a day, far ahead of any other state.
The breakdown of the newly confirmed cases are as follows: Lagos-378,FCT-52,Delta-23,Edo-22,Rivers-14,Ogun-13,Kaduna-12,Kano-9,Borno-7,Katsina-6,Jigawa-5 ,Oyo-5,Yobe-3,Plateau-3,Osun-1.
The NCDC annonced the new cases through their official Twitter handle.
The latest number jacked up the country’s total infections so far to 9,855.
Meanwhile., 2,856 patients have been treated and discharged as at Saturday,30th of May.
The NCDC dashboard shows that, 273 persons have lost their lives to the deadly virus across Nigeria.
NCDC also noted that, no new state record a case on Saturday.
