Contrary to earlier reports, President Muhammadu Buhari will not make any broadcast on COVID -19 updates today.
Various media reports Monday morning had indicated that the President would address the nation later in the evening to point the way forward after he had ordered two weeks inter-state lockdown.
The president who first addressed the nation late March on the COVID-19 pandemic and announced lockdown of Lagos, Ogun States and Abuja followed it up a fortnight after.
This is according to Aliyu Sani, The national coordinator of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, was quoted as saying the decision as to the next steps to be taken would come from the president on Monday.
But Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said on Monday afternoon via Twitter that there would be no such broadcast today.
He said the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, would update the nation during its briefings.
“No presidential broadcast on COVID-19 updates today.
“None was planned. Rather, the Presidential Task Force will during its usual media briefings bring the nation up to speed on the next steps,” he tweeted.
