Not less than 67 persons have died from yellow fever in Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, where yellow fever has been ravaging Umuopu and Ette communities.
The latest victims of the deadly infection came from Umuopu and Imufu communities.
The name of the man who died in Imufu Community was given as Maduabuchi Ojobo.
An online platform Southeast Post reports that other deaths with similar symptoms were also recorded at Aji, Ogrute, Ufodo and Umuida among others, bringing the number of deaths in the LGA so far to over 67.
According to the report, 58 persons were earlier reported to have died at Umuopu and Ette Communities which have common border.
In response the development, the Enugu State government drafted seven fire fighting vehicles to Ette where officials fumigated the forests to eradicate the aedes – Egypt mosquitoes which are said to be the carrier’s of the disease.
That is besides ongoing vaccination by health officials which is being undertaken simultaneously at Ogrute, Umuopu and Ette.
