5 people have died and 12 others injured, after a vehicle loaded with explosive devices went off in Azare Motor Park in Bauchi State, Nigeria’s north-eastern region.
The Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer Mr. Haruna Muhammad, who confirmed the incident, said the explosion occurred at 9:45PM yesterday.
Mr. Muhammad said the dead victims were charred beyond recognition, while 12 others who sustained various degree of injuries are receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center, Azare.
He adds that the scene of the incident has been cordoned off by a Police Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit.
Although, nobody has claimed responsibility for the blast, last night’s incident is about the third time Azare Town has come under attack from Boko Haram terrorists.
The sect members destroyed a police station and some commercial banks in Azare on the 5th of December 2011.
They returned to the town with another attack on the 3rd of December 2012.
The blast is coming nearly a week after the Federal Government announced a ceasefire deal with Boko Haram, which it said would include the release of the girls kidnapped from the secondary school in Chibok.
