Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Governorship Aspirant, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that he relies on the grassroots support in all 23 local councils of the state to achieve his people-centred aspiration to emancipate Rivers people.
Speaking on Friday at Abua-Odual LGA of Rivers State, Barrister Wike said the leadership mandate resides with the people of Rivers State.
He said that the relevance of the members and leaders of PDP across Rivers state cannot be diminished by gang-up of moles from the opposition party trying to distract the party.
“I will continue to meet with the people of Rivers State and their leaders to sell myself to the people.
“I am happy with the level of support my aspiration has received anywhere we go. The people appreciate the liberation work we have done so far and the development programmes we have set out to achieve when we are eventually elected to take over the Brick House.”
The former Minister of State for Education, Barrister Wike urged the Rivers people to continue to disregard the agitations of moles planted by a defeated opposition party in the state.
“All threats by these sponsored aspirants cannot changed anything. We will win the election very well and no anarchy will befall Rivers state. Those aspirants threatening violence in Abuja are wasting their time
Also speaking, member representing Abua Odual/Ahaoda East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mrss Betty Apiafi said while other aspirants have presence only on the pages of newspapers, Wike has built a relationship with all sections of the state.
Ken Warriboko, PDP chairman of Abua-Odual LGA said that the party delegates and members have resolved to vote for Barrister Wike at the governorship primary on December 8 and the general election.
PDP leader in Obua/Odual LGA and Executive Director, Finance of NDDC, Dr Henry Ogiri said that his support for Barrister Wike stems from the fact that Wike represents peace, development and growth of Rivers State.
He said that only Wike has the capacity to recover the governorship mandate stolen by the APC, pointing out that Wike made it possible for President Jonathan and his wife to have their integrity to be preserved in the state.
Highpoint of the occasion was the launching of the integrated empowerment scheme for Abua/Odual LGA.
