The senatorial return bid of Sen. David Mark yesterday got a big boost as civil societies and political pressure groups led by the Conference of Minority Tribes in Nigeria, declared their support for the Senate president and called on him to continue his sojourn at the senate.
This was made known during a joint consultation forum of civil societies and pro-democracy groups which held in otukpo, Benue State, w…here the activists further declared that they were ready to pick the nomination from for the Senate president to show their zeal to ensure his return to the senate.
According to them, the reason for their support was Mark’s undoubtable track record in the area of legislation and leadership in the senate.
Speaking to press men after the meeting, Comrie. Okpokwu Ogenyi, chief convener, said they were impressed by the sterling performance of David Mark in his exhibition of great leadership qualities.
Okpokwu added that the group which has planned a million man March to call on Mark to continue in office and also make sure he is returned unopposed also described him as a “proud export of the minorities and an exceptional example worthy of emulation.”
Also speaking at the event, political activist and president National Democratic Front (NDF), Comrade Agrees Philip, said they had decided to join forces in making sure Mark returns to the Senate and even maintains his position as senate president based on his ability to safely steer the Senate for nine year without rancour.
He called on Sen. David Mark, to desist from even travelling to his constituency until after the elections to allow them and his constituents solely ensure his return without his input as a mark of their approval of his leadership.
