Lagos – Two women, Oluwakemi Olaosebikan and Adeola,Ajibade, who allegedly stole the sum of N8.1million belonging to their employer, on Thursday, appeared before an Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
Olaosebikan, 27, resides at No. 17, Ogo-Oluwa St., Dopemu, Akowonjo, Lagos, while Ajibade, 42, resides at No. 3, Ifelodun St, Abule-Eko in Ikorodu.
The accused are each facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime between March and August 2013 at Pharmforte Network Ltd, Lagos.
He said that Olaosebikan, who was an accountant with Pharmforte Network Ltd, sold various products of the company but failed to remit the proceeds, which amounted to N8.1million.
“She and her accomplice, Ajibade, sold various goods at different times and failed to remit the proceeds, but instead, converted it into their personal use,” he said.
Osuji said that the offences committed contravened Sections 285(7) (9)(b), 355 (a)(b)(c) and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Section 285 prescribes three years imprisonment for anyone found liable of stealing.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Y. J. Badejo, granted the accused N1 million bail each, with two sureties each in like sum,
